Virtual Field Trip ~
Expository Writing Assignment
Worksheet 3 (Field Trip)
(Take a trip… Each student will be assigned a city to visit before doing this assignment).
Task:
Open the Virtual
Field Trip site and click on your assigned city
on the US map. Read the journal
entry that Andrew made during his visit to your city.
Do: Write a summary in your own words...
What
did Andrew see? Who
did Andrew meet? Who did Andrew give books to? List
any other
points of interest about the visit. Include the
date of the visit and you may print a picture or two from your location (if
there is one available).
Your summary should
be 3 to 4 paragraphs long (about 1 page), and proofread for mistakes.
Reminder:

You need: An opening paragraph that
explains your topic.
~
Supporting paragraphs about Andrew’s
visit.
~ A closing paragraph that perhaps tells where Andrew is headed next? You may also include a personal note or thought about the city that you visited or about the great poetry giveaway.
Oral Presentation: After writing your summary, you will be asked to tell the class about Andrew's visit to your city. (This will be brief).
Extra:
Can you think of a community service activity that
could be done in our town that is similar in some way to Andrew’s trip? Please
make suggestions…
